Delivering Functional Skills qualifications for Mathematics

Our Functional Skills qualifications for mathematics is designed for learners at college, on adult learning programmes, and for those working towards apprenticeships.
They provide learners with the essential skills to navigate real-life situations, support future employment opportunities, and further their studies confidently and successfully.

City & Guilds Functional Skills qualifications are available across five levels (entry 1 to level 2) for maths and English and at two levels (entry 3 and level 1) for digital skills. This qualification can be delivered either in the classroom, via distance learning, or blended.

Typical Age

This qualification is designed for learners who are typically aged 15 and above.

Entry Criteria

SACL requires no prior qualifications to study Mathematics Functional Skills.

The Functional Skills Maths (4748) covers entry levels 1-3, and levels 1 and 2. These qualifications are suitable for all ages and cover content areas such as:

  • using numbers and the number system;
  • using common measures, shapes, and space;
  • handling data and information.
  • Learners will need to demonstrate mathematical knowledge and skills and apply this to solve mathematical problems.

This qualification is designed to provide a foundation for employment and continued studies.
