Certificate in Mentoring

Introduction

This suite of qualifications provide knowledge and understanding of coaching and/or mentoring principles and develop best practice in their application. Each qualification has a specific focus and programme length aimed at meeting the needs of individual learners and the organisations, where they may be employed. There are two pathways available within this qualification; Pathway 1-SACL Level 6 Certificate in Mentoring (Mentoring -for people in Business/Organisations) Pathway 2-SACL Level 6 Certificate in Mentoring (Mentoring -for people in Education and/or Training)

This is a core qualification available to existing and interested centres of SACL.

Grading

Graded pass or fail

Advanced learner loans available in the UK

Delivery Mode

This qualification can be delivered as full-time or part-time study via blended or distance learning.

Typical Age

This qualification is designed for learners who are typically aged 21 and above.

Entry Criteria

SACL requires no prior qualifications to study Level 6 Certificate in Mentoring.

Learners must complete all 2 mandatory units and 1 optional (opt) pathway unit.

Principles and practice of coaching and mentoring The unit aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the differences between coaching and mentoring, their application and the principles and practices which can be used in coaching and mentoring situations. This will provide a basis for learners to build skills in these areas. 11 Yes
Pathway 1 Mentoring (for People in Business/Organisations) Mentoring business/organisation professionals The aim of this unit is to develop mentoring practice for the role of mentoring individuals working in business This will include support for the establishment and/or growth of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) 8 Opt
Pathway 2 Mentoring (for People in Education and/or Training) Mentoring education professionals The aim of this unit is to develop mentoring practice specifically in the context of working with teachers, trainers or the development of other education professionals. 8 Opt
